Why You Don’t Need To Be Vegan To Eat Vegetarian Food

You don’t have to be vegan to eat vegetarian food!! There are so many benefits that come with eating vegetarian food. Vegetarian food consists of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that provide your body with tons of health benefits. It is also a good source of vitamins and minerals that your body needs. Below I listed 3 of the many benefits that come with eating vegan food.

Low Cholesterol Levels

In eating vegetarian food, it can help lower your body’s cholesterol levels. Omnivores which are people that eat both meat and plant-derived products tend to have higher cholesterol levels than vegetarians. Why is it a good idea to have a low cholesterol level? Great question! Having low cholesterol levels reduces the risk of having heart attacks and strokes. If you are currently struggling in maintaining your high cholesterol levels low, it is recommended that you change your diet and start eating vegetarian foods.

High Fiber Content

Another benefit in eating vegetarian food is that these fruits, vegetables, and whole grains contain a high fiber content. Specific fruits that are high in fiber include fruits such as bananas, oranges, apples, mangoes, strawberries and raspberries. A good tip to know about the fiber content in vegetables is that the darker the color of the vegetable, the higher it is in fiber content. Some vegetables I recommend eating includes carrots, broccoli, collard greens, spinach, artichokes, and potatoes. When it comes to whole grains, I would stick to select 7-grain, dark rye, brown rice, and barley. Be sure that when you are out shopping for whole grain breads that “whole wheat” is the first ingredient under the ingredients list. In cereals, be sure to get cereal that has 5 or more grams of fiber per serving. Eating foods with a high fiber content helps to eliminate toxins and chemicals from the body.

Improves Metabolism

Another great benefit of eating vegetarian food is that it helps to improve your metabolism. Benefits that come with having a healthy metabolism is improved blood circulation, it helps to elevate moods, and you have more energy. Improving your blood circulation helps to remove toxins and waste in your bowels. An improved metabolism can also boost your mood and energy as a proper diet can lead to a higher metabolic rate. On top of all that, helping improve your metabolism can make food easier to digest and it can burn fat faster.

Eating vegetarian food which is packed with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can bring so many great health benefits to your body. That doesn’t mean you have to completely give up on eating meat.
