What You’ll Need To Make Heirloom Tomato Basil Pasta

The ingredients to make Heirloom Tomato Basil Pasta includes:

  • 3 cups of heirloom tomatoes (I like to use different colors: yellow, red & dark red)
  • ½ cup of packed fresh basil
  • ½ cup of olive oil
  • 6 cloves of minced garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • ½ cup of parmesan cheese
  • ⅓ cup of toasted pine nuts
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 pack of linguine pasta

How To Make Heirloom Tomato Basil Pasta

Step 1: Place water in a large pot and turn on high to boil the water. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water. Time this so your pasta is finished cooking when your tomato basil sauce is finished.

Step 2: Add olive oil to the skillet on a medium low heat. Saute the garlic and red pepper flakes for 4-5 minutes until translucent, not brown.

Step 3: Add salt to the chopped heirloom tomatoes to bring out the sweetness.

Step 4: Remove pasta from boiling water without draining. Transfer immediately to the skillet with garlic oil. Add ½ cup of pasta water to the skillet and toss.

Step 5: Melt the parmesan cheese directly into the hot pasta. Add the pine nuts, tomatoes and fresh basil. Toss together. Cook for 1 more minute just to warm up the tomatoes.

And that’s it! That is how you make a delicious vegetarian Heirloom Tomato Basil Pasta. Once you have a taste of this dish, you won’t be able to set your fork down.
